Own a Honda built from 2018-2021? Better check if your vehicle is part of the fuel pump recall. Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI) recently announced a voluntary recall of 10,863 units of select 2018 – 2021 models.
Models affected by the recall include the Accord, BR-V, City, Civic, Civic Type R, CR-V, HR-V, and the Mobilio.
Customers with affected units may avail of the fuel pump service kit replacement in any of the 38 HCPI dealerships nationwide. Replacement parts and labor for this voluntary recall are free of charge. HCPI says the replacement process may take up to a maximum of 2 hours.
Not sure if your vehicle is included? You may go to HCPI's Recall Information Section. There, owners can type the 17-digit Chassis Number or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at the Chassis/VIN search tool. Honda will also mail notification letters to the owners of affected vehicles.
To ensure the smooth servicing of affected vehicles, customers are encouraged to set an appointment with their preferred dealership beforehand. This is not the first time HCPI had to issue a recall involving faulty fuel pumps. Back in June 2020, the company issued a similar recall due to defective fuel pumps. At the time, only 2018-2019 models of the Accord, BR-V, City, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Jazz, and Mobilio were affected.
