Honda BF350 is a V8 outboard motor that pushes out 355 PS
Yes, you read that headline correctly. The Japanese automaker famous for making small yet powerful engines has built a V8 engine that displaces 5 liters. Called the BF350, it makes 355 PS on regular gasoline which is more than enough to power any vehicle. But before you actually try and get one to put into your project car, this V8 is not exactly for cars.
Honda's new V8 engine is actually an outboard motor for marine use. That's right, Honda Marine has just debuted the all-new BF350 V8. It serves as the brand's first V8 motor for boats and is their new flagship offering that is set to deliver unrivaled performance.
The new BF350 is set to cater to 25-foot boats and longer with Honda claiming that the V8 will deliver a flatter and broader torque curve for both luxury and utility applications. Depending on customer needs, the new V8 outboard motor can also be used in single and dual applications and also benefits from what Honda calls Intelligent Shift and Throttle Controls that can operate up to four engines.
The new V8 outboard motor also comes with Boosted Low-Speed Torque (BLAST) mode which greatly improves acceleration by making the air-fuel ratio richer and advancing the ignition timing for increased torque output. Other key features present on the BF350 include an ECO mode that reduces fuel consumption, cruise control, and a power tilt function that lifts the engine. And in true Honda fashion, the V8 gets VTEC as standard.
While the V8 may not fit in your Civic or Accord, this V8 will fit right in your fishing boat or other type of marine vehicle. And since it comes with VTEC, the Honda fanboys will surely love the fact it will still kick in yo.
