Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) recently issued a voluntary recall involving select 2003-2004 model year City models that may have a defective driver's side airbag inflator.
According to the investigation done by HCPI, they found a possible problem during the inflator's production process at the airbag supplier wherein the inflator might produce a higher pressure than standard in an event of a frontal accident. HCPI is currently sending letter-notices to those affected by the recall and will also be contacted by Honda dealers through phone.
In an event that the car has already been sold to another owner, the original owners are requested to notify the dealership at once to inform the new owner of the safety recall.
Honda stresses that this is a precautionary measurement to ensure the utmost safety of their customers which is the company's highest priority. Repair service of affected vehicles will commence on December 8, 2014.
