One of Honda's best sellers in the country is getting a new look this year.
Honda Cars Philippines has just held the launch of the new 2019 BR-V, the seven seater crossover derivative of the Mobilio. The new BR-V gets some styling updates both inside and out, as well as one of the most requested features from customers: a rear-view camera.
Now assembled at the HCPI plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna, the new 2019 Honda BR-V gets a new look courtesy of a redesigned front bumper with sportier styling cues, a prouder chrome front grille. Like before, there are LED daytime running lights for the top-of-the-line 1.5V variant and projector lights for the standard 1.5S.
Honda also updated the rear bumper as well as replaced the roof antenna with a more stylish fin-type antenna for the 1.5V. Both variants also get a new set of wheels to complete the design update.
Both versions of the BR-V get some updated upholstery for the new model year. The 1.5S have a new fabric design, while the 1.5V has a leather interior with red accents, up to and including a pad beside the inner doorhandles. The leather steering wheel and automatic shifter on the BR-V 1.5V also get red baseball-style stitching.
Mechanically, Honda had not made any changes to one of their biggest sellers. The engine powering the BR-V is still the same 1.5-liter VTEC engine that makes 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque. Both variants of the BR-V are front-wheel drive only via a continuously variable transmission. The 1.5V gets paddleshifters for spirited driving.
While the features list largely remains the same with dual airbags, power windows, central doorlocks, anti-lock brakes and stability control, Honda did add one of the most requested features from customers: a rear-view camera on the 1.5V and the 1.5S. They were able to do this by changing the display audio unit which also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The new BR-V is now available at dealerships nationwide:
