In just two years since the 9th generation Honda Civic has been in showrooms, it appears Honda Cars Philippines will be releasing the facelifted version soon. Very soon.
HCPI President and General Manager Toshio Kuwahara told AutoIndustriya.com that the updated version of the Civic will be launched at various dealer events on May 30.
The updated Civic, a model based on the Thai market version, will get minor exterior updates such as the new honeycomb grille, accents and other touches. According to sources, the update is what Honda calls a minor model change (MMC).
If fully based on the Thai-market model, the updated Civic could come with the new HDMI port and 7-inch screen as previously seen on the City. Other updates to the Civic could include the curtain airbags and other features. Engine choices will remain the same with 155 PS 2.0 liter and 141 PS 1.8 liter SOHC i-VTEC powerplants.
The interesting bit is that Kuwahara stated that the 2.0 liter Civic will be made available with a Mugen bodykit while the 1.8 liter versions will be available with Modulo kits.
The arrival of the facelifted Civic marks what could be one of the quickest updates in the auto industry, given the lukewarm reception of one of Honda's most popular models around the world. The North American market release also received an early revision in 2012.
