Remember Honda's retro-inspired Urban EV Concept? Well, it looks like it won't be long until we see it as a fully-working production vehicle.
Last March 2018, Honda confirmed that they have greenlighted the concept's production and will be accepting reservations as early as 2019. Now, Honda recently announced that they will be showing a prototype version of the concept at this year's Geneva Motor Show.
Based on the teaser photo, it looks like Honda was busy making subtle changes on the EV's design. Compared to the original concept, the new prototype now comes with new circular headlights along with a smaller Honda badge on the digital front grill. The front bumper was also given a minor revision as it now features a more rounded shape. The hood, on the other hand, appears to be the same as before.
Other details regarding the prototype EV still remain a mystery. However, Honda did say that their new EV was 'developed with a focus on functionality and purpose'. In addition, the automaker claimed the prototype will highlight a clean and simple design that is unique to the EV hatchback.
We have yet to see images of the prototype's interior. But more than likely, Honda will tone down its design, while still keeping the signature retro-inspired theme.
What we do know, however, is that Honda plans to bring the production EV to the market this year. This means we are only months away before Honda officially reveals their new mass-market EV.
