HCPI outpaces industry with 37-percent growth compared to 2016

If you've been seeing more Honda automobiles on the road, particularly the City and the BR-V, then here's why.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has just announced that they have broken their sales record in 2017, garnering a grand total of 31,758 units sold.

The performance of HCPI and its dealers is very notable because they outpaced total industry (note: CAMPI figures) growth; the industry grew by 18% compared to 2016, but HCPI grew their volume by more than double at 37%. In 2016, HCPI sold 23,199 units.

As we expected it was the City, Honda's locally-assembled model, that remained on top of their sales charts with 9,430 units released last year, accounting for 30% of their total sales. Interestingly enough, it was the BR-V that quickly became Honda's number 2 seller with 7,212 units released, or 23%.

Honda says the Civic nameplate had its best full year of sales in the Philippines, achieving 4,146 units sold; up by 66%. As for the CR-V, another Honda model released in late 2017, they reported that the dealerships sold a total of 2,799 units.

“On behalf of Honda Cars Philippines, Inc., we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to our customers for continuously making Honda their preferred brand,” said Mr. Noriyuki Takakura, HCPI's President and GM, in a statement. “We are fully committed to continuing our dedication of putting our customers first and in delivering high quality products and services in partnership with our dealerships.”

And to cap it all off, Honda has sold and released 100 units of the Civic Type R in 2017 too.
