Honda strengthens commitment to Blue Skies
Honda Group of Companies supports Haribon's Watershed Reforestation Project
Over 250 volunteers from the Honda Foundation Inc. (HFI), Honda customers and select members of the motoring media trooped to Cavinti, Laguna to plant 5,000 tree seedlings of native species and support Haribon Foundation's rehabilitation of Caliraya Watershed. HFI composed of Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI), Honda Parts and Manufacturing Corporation (HPMC) and Honda Trading Philippines (HTP) recently signed a memorandum of agreement with Haribon Foundation to show Honda's participation in Road to 2020 project. Road to 2020 is an environmental conservation movement that aims to restore one million hectares of Philippine rainforests using native tree species by year 2020. Such movement shall help recover and conserve biodiversity, optimize supply of forest benefits and ecosystem services, reduce risk of natural hazards and enhance options for sustainable livelihood. The Honda Foundation pledged to rehabilitate 20 hectares.
Honda is committed in preserving the environment by manufacturing high quality and environmental-friendly products. Honda recognizes the importance of harmonious co-existence with the community and the environment, particularly in the areas where it operates. "We recognize and take responsibility for the environmental impact generated by our corporate activities and use of our products, and we are committed in minimizing these impacts," said Mr. Hiroshi Shimizu, President and General Manager of Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.
In celebration of HCPI's 20 years of operations, Honda reinforces its longtime pledge way back in 1966 to leave blue skies for our children, as initiated by Honda's founder, Soichiro Honda. It has been 20 fruitful years of producing fuel efficient and clean vehicles, eco-friendly production, distribution and operational processes.
The Honda Foundation will conduct a series of tree planting activity to fully rehabilitate 20 hectares. If you wish to take active part of this movement, visit www.hondaphil.com, HCPI's Facebook, Twitter accounts or any of the 28 authorized dealerships nationwide.
