Leading the ceremonies are the presidents of the Honda Group of Companies namely Mr. Hiroshi Shimizu of Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.(HCPI), Mr. Kazuhiko Ikezoe of Honda Philippines, Inc.(HPI), Mr. Akira Ishida of Honda Parts Manufacturing Corporation (HPMC), Mr. Hiroshi Okamoto of Honda Trading Philippines, Enterprises (HTPE) and the officials of Tagaytay City Government led by City Mayor Abraham Tolentino and Vice Mayor Celso de Castro.
"The environment's welfare is everybody's business." said Hiroshi Shimizu. "With the growing concern on the excessive emission of carbon dioxide that results in climate changes and poor air quality, Honda is in continuous search for ways to attain sustainable mobility. For the benefit of future generations, Honda recognizes the importance of harmonious co-existence with the community and the environment" Kazuhiko Ikezoe added.
Honda enhances its environmental conservation activities to become a leading company in the development and use of environmentally sound practices and products.
In its previous environmental projects, the Honda Group of Companies has supported Bantay Kalikasan's plea to rehabilitate La Mesa Watershed through the Adopt-a-hectare project. In five years time, Honda associates have already planted over 5,000 trees within a 13-hectare badly damaged forest.
Honda's thrust in protecting the environment is not only evident on its products but on its manufacturing operations as well. More than being high quality and fun to use, Honda products are engineered to comply with the stringent European Emission Standards. Honda vehicles comply with EURO 4 levels while Honda motorcycles with EURO 2 levels.
As reflected in its manufacturing process, Honda ensures safe disposal of its waste materials by investing on state-of-the-art Universal Carbonizer and wastewater treatment facilities. The Universal Carbonizer treatment facility uses a special heating procedure to process solid waste into carbon without emitting carbon dioxide. Meanwhile, its wastewater treatment facility thoroughly recycles and decontaminates used water before disposal.
Honda will continue to lead the way in developing technological innovations and practices for the welfare of the environment and future generations to come.
