ABT Sportline reveals world's first hybrid Audi RS6
Last week, famed Audi tuner ABT Sportsline released a hilarious teaser video of what appeared to be an electric Audi RS6 called RS6-E. Now, the covers have officially come off as ABT Sportline recently revealed their hybrid-powered RS6. In fact, this marks the first time an RS6 has been fitted with hybrid technology, and it boosted performance to supercar levels.
Under the hood, the hybrid-performance wagon retains its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 powerplant. However, it is now assisted by an electric motor to produce a combined output of 1,018 PS and 1,291 Nm of torque. In comparison, the standard RS6 produces only 560 PS and 700 Nm of torque. ABT says top speed is rated at 320 km/h while 0 to 100 km/h can be achieved in just 3.3 seconds.
In order to get the RS6-E to generate over 1,000 PS, ABT Sportline has given the engine their Power R package which pushes power up from to 720 PS. They then inserted a booster system in form of an electric motor directly into the RS6's transmission. The motor itself produces 288 PS and 317 Nm of torque alone.
To help keep the weight down, ABT Sport only installed a 13.6 kWh battery pack. Though this battery pack may seem small, it was deemed enough as the boost function only works above 100 km/h. The added hybrid tech has only added 200 kg to the car's standard weight.
Apart from running gear changes, ABT has also given the RS6-E a more aggressive exterior styling. H&R springs have been fitted to lower the ride height. An aggressive body kit along with with 21-inch ABT Sport GR wheels give the wagon a more striking look. The car is then finished in a green-gray-black livery.
