Hyundai clocks excellent sales growth for first four months of 2011

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai in the Philippines, registered an uptrend for its fuel-saving vehicles in its latest sales report, posting strong market turnouts for the Accent and Sonata models under the Passenger Car (PC) segment, and the Santa Fe, Tucson, and Grand Starex units for the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) category.
For the PC segment, the Accent yielded a 30% month-to-date (MTD) sales growth, followed by the Sonata that set off with 18% boost in April compared to last March. For the LCV segment, the Tucson compact SUV achieved 100% year-on-year increase with m-t-d sales up by 20%; the 7-seat Santa Fe with 85% year-to-date (YTD) sales growth; and the Grand Starex van with 10% increase for both MTD and YTD sales performances.
Overall, Hyundai's sales growth resulted in a modest 5% boost versus the month of March with a total of 1,707 units sold this April, and a 3% increase in YTD sales accounting to a total of 6,419 vehicle units.
"The sales prove positive for Hyundai, as the figures show that Filipinos are growing increasingly supportive of ways to minimize fuel consumption and their carbon footprint with their patronage of vehicles that are energy efficient," said Ms. Fe Perez-Agudo, President and CEO of Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc., noting the significant gains of Hyundai's fuel-efficient range of vehicles.
