Hyundai launched the Elantra with its latest facelift in the Korean market last August 13. This move aims to further strengthen the Elantra’s presence in its respective competitive segment. Aside from its facelift, the car has been equipped with improved product features.
Badged as the Avante in Korea, the face-lifted Elantra is 4,550 mm long, making it 20 mm longer than its predecessor. The front and rear bumpers are extended by 5 mm and 15 mm respectively for a more stable and balanced look. Changes in the front fascia include redesigned front bumper, radiator grille, fog lamps, LED light guide and projector headlights. The car is also equipped with 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels and chrome molding on its belt line to project its premium image. The rear bumper now sports black accents and LED taillights.
Changes in the interior design were primarily for improving ergonomics. New cockpit features include a 3.5-inch OLED display and ventilation seats. Also included in the new Elantra are advanced Smart Parking Assist System (SPAS) and flex steer.
The addition of a diesel engine variant should cater to the market shift that favors diesel engines. The Elantra with the 1.6L diesel engine offers a fuel economy of 18.5 km/L for manual transmission and 16.2 km/L for automatic transmission. The engine is capable of producing 128 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. The diesel variant with automatic transmission also adopts the ISG (Idle Stop & Go) system.
