Hyundai Motor Group has appointed Albert Biermann as its new Head of Vehicle Test & High Performance Development effective April 1, 2015.
The Korean automaker says Biermann will lead the development of new high performance Hyundai and Kia models. Biermann will also oversee engineering projects relating to ride and handling, safety, reliability and the mitigation of NVH (noise, vibration and harshness). Biermann will be based out of Hyundai's R&D Center in Namyang, Korea.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join Hyundai Motor Group. It is a company I have watched closely as it has taken on its key competitors and quickly established a strong customer base in Europe,” Biermann said.
With Biermann's appointment, Hyundai said the production of their new high performance vehicles and technology will accelerate. The Korean automaker goes on by saying that the dynamic capabilities of their cars across the range will improve. Subsequently, the experience of Biermann will also benefit Hyundai's motorsport program specifically in the World Rally Championship.
Before joining Hyundai, Biermann was the former Chief Engineer at BMW M GmbH and the current Vice President of Engineering at BMW M Automobiles. He first joined BMW in 1983 and has played a key part in developing the performance and dynamics of some of the marque's acclaimed road and race cars.
