Hyundai Asia Resources Incorporated (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai cars in the Philippines recently announced that the automaker is the Official Mobility Partner of the 2015 Shell Eco-Marathon for the second straight year.
The annual program is an event that encourages students and the public from around the world to build the most energy-efficient cars. The event also educates them about the benefits and the technology behind earth-friendly and fuel-efficient modes of transportation.
For this year, Hyundai will be presenting the ix35, a hydrogen-powered car based on the brand's Tuscon CUV. Now available for the North American market, it emits zero amount of carbon, refuels in three minutes and has maximum range of 600 km. Other features present in the vehicle include parking sensors, stability control, hill-start assist and six airbags.
Also to be presented during the event is the 2014 Hyundai Veloster that uses a Gasoline Direct Injection (GDi) engine that Hyundai claims has a shorter, more direct path of fuel delivery which grants better fuel efficiency and power delivery.
Besides the two vehicles, Hyundai is also preparing fun activities in the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2015 to further educate Filipinos about energy efficiency with an interactive driving video game.
In the aforementioned game, visitors can build and drive a car through a motion-input console. In addition to this, Hyundai will show informative videos that will discuss the fuel cell technology, alongside a story wall that will illustrate its impact to Filipinos. There will also be pop quizzes where winners can bring home exclusive Hyundai goodies.
The event is now taking place at the Quirino Grandstand until March 1, 2015
