Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) and the University of the Philippines-Diliman College of Architecture (UPCA) capped off the three-month Hyundai Green Dealership DESIGN competition and awarded 3 of the ‘greenest’ dealership designs last November 25, 2013 at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel.
UP Integrated Architectural Design graduating students were asked to develop green design standards 8 Hyundai dealerships and had to be consistent with the Hyundai brand philosophy and HARI corporate identity; cost-effective; applicable to the Philippine setting; and should foster the efficient operation and overall performance excellence of Hyundai dealers in the Philippines.
The pre-selected Hyundai dealers were Hyundai Abad Santos, Alabang Muntinlupa, Central EDSA, Commonwealth, E. Rodriguez, Greenhills, Shaw Boulevard, and Sucat Road.
The Hyundai Green Dealership DESIGN competition is HARI’s way of kick starting DESIGN (Dealership Excellence Through Sustainable, Intelligent Green Network); implementing the winning design concepts on new-build Hyundai dealerships in 2014.
HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo led a distinguished panel of judges including UPCA Dean Mary Ann Espina, UPCA professor Alex Evangelista and Green Architecture Advocacy Philippines Chairman Architect Miguel Guerrero III.
Last November 20, 2013 at the HARI offices in Bonifacio Technology Center (BTC) in Bonifacio Global City, the award (trophies and cash) was presented to Team Hyundai E. Rodriguez (Patrick Lawrence Monfort, Jilliane Gomez and Andrey Lopez) for taking 3rd place. 2nd place went to Team Hyundai Commonwealth Avenue (Aedriane Celis and Danilo Donor). Bagging First Place was Team Hyundai Central EDSA (Francis Timothy Santos, Carla Lim, and Carem Morales).
The awarding coincided with the fellowship night of the three-day South East Asia (SEA) Regional Sustainable Buildings Manila Conference (SB13), a prestigious regional conference on green design, planning, and engineering practices.
“‘Sustainability’ has always been at the core of Hyundai’s operations and brand building agenda way before the word became in vogue. We take sustainability seriously--in the way we design and manufacture our cars, heeding the ever-growing public clamor for businesses to become more conscious about saving the planet in their product design and manufacturing and in their operations. With the implementation of these winning designs, we celebrate the creativity of our young ‘star-chitects’ and add value to our business by addressing our customers’ desire to experience serious green business in action,” according to HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo.
