Hyundai quietly announces prices for 2018 Kona, Santa Fe

When Hyundai unveiled the all-new Santa Fe and Kona during the 2018 Manila International Auto Show, suggested retail prices were yet to be finalized. During that time, all HARI could say is that the Santa Fe would be pegged at about Php 2.5 million while the Kona was to 'be below Php 1.1 million'.

Now, the company can answer your inquiries as HARI has announced the official prices for the two new crossovers. Besides that, official specs have also been released by HARI for both crossovers.

Just as HARI promised, the Kona starts below Php 1.1 million; Php 1,048,000 to be exact. For now, there is only one variant available for the funky-looking B-segment crossover. Philippine-spec Konas will be the 2.0 GLS model with two-wheel drive. It's different from the one featured during MIAS (and previewed by Autoindustriya.com) as that came with a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine with all-wheel drive.

The 2.0-liter in the Kona makes 149 PS and 180 Nm of torque, similar to the top of the line Elantra. Transmission is a six-speed automatic with manual mode. Steering wheel mounted audio controls are standard, and so is cruise control. No touchscreen available, according to the official website. However, the 2-DIN stereo comes with Aux-in, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity. Sound is then channeled via six speakers.

As for the Santa Fe, the retail price is actually lower than HARI's initial projection. The all-new Santa Fe starts at Php 2,388,000 and, like the Kona, only comes in one variant. At least for now, the local-spec Santa Fe is the 2.2 CRDi GLS 2WD. It is similar in spec to the one shown during MIAS and our Hyundai feature a few months ago.

In this spec, the Santa Fe makes 200 PS and 450 Nm of torque and it shifts through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Full LED lights are standard at the front and rear, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels. Other spec highlights include power seats for both driver and passenger, a seven-inch infotainment display, Aux-in, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity, Hi-fi audio system, smart key, six airbags, stability control and, perhaps vital in its segment, seven seats.
