A few months have passed since the all-new Hyundai Staria made its global debut last March. Unfortunately, we still don't know when the popular people-mover will be officially arriving in the Philippines. It seems, however, Thailand will be getting its hands on the Staria very soon. Hyundai Thailand announced that the new Staria will make its official debut in the country on July 9, 2021.
With Thailand getting ready for the launch of the Staria, does this mean the Philippines will be the next to get it? Possibly. Most models introduced in the Philippines often make their regional debut in Thailand first. With that, the new Starex/Staria might arrive in the Philippines before the year ends. Well, that is officially from Hyundai Philippines, at least. Then again, Hyundai Philippines did say they were launching four new vehicles this year.
Last December, Hyundai Philippines announced they would be introducing four new models – the updated Kona, facelift Santa Fe, the all-new Tucson, and the Starex. So far, none of the four models have debuted in the country. Instead, the subcompact Venue crossover was introduced into the lineup. Hyundai Philippines has been quiet about the Staria/Starex's local debut as well.
Hopefully, we don't have to wait too long before the new Staria/Starex officially arrives in the Philippines. For those who can't wait, there are units of the new Staria at gray market dealerships. Take note, these aren't officially sold by Hyundai Asia Resources Inc (HARI), but private importers. The dealer we talked to said the new Staria starts at PHP 2.6 million, while the top-of-the-line model retailed for around PHP 3.4 million.
Considering how much the gray market Staria is going for, we're wondering how much it will cost once it officially arrives in the Philippines through HARI.
