Hyundai previews the future of luxury with the Vision G Concept
Hyundai's idea for a future luxury vehicle comes by way of the Vision G Concept which the company recently revealed at the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art.
Sporting a distinct coupe look that is accentuated by a pillar-less side profile, Hyundai described the concept car as the company's 'inspiration for its family of future premium products that promise luxury, performance, style with the value and responsibility that is the foundation of Hyundai's brand.'
“The concept was designed with coordinated input from Hyundai design studios around the world, but was led by our team here in the U.S. The design is our interpretation of the idea that Hyundai breathes into all of its vehicles – a DNA that balances design and performance with the idea that you don’t need to be over the top in terms of glitz and stereotypical luxury cues,” said Peter Schreyer, Hyundai’s President and Chief Design Officer.
Designed with a sense of being understated while still delivering defined character lines, the Vision G is highlighted by its “slingshot-like appearance” which consist of a long hood and a high beltline.
The front features Hyundai's signature hexagonal grill that is paired with tapered headlights and a large lower intake. Seen at the side is the pillar-less cabin that is further spruced up streaks of character lines.
Moving to the rear, the Vision G concept has wide wheel arches, vertical taillights, a contoured trunk and a well-defined roofline.
Inside, the 4-seater luxury coupe is upholstered in white leather while the cabin itself gets gold trim and wood accents. Also seen inside is a touchscreen infotainment system, digital displays and a Lexicon audio system.
Powering the Hyundai Vision G Concept is a 5.0-liter Tau V8 engine that cranks out 425 PS and 518 Nm of torque. Other accolades of the large capacity V8 include: optimized intake, improved timing chain for reduced friction, increased compression ratio and a low torque exhaust manifold as such.
The Hyundai Vision G will also be making its presence felt at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance which will take place on August 16, 2015.
