The electric revolution could soon makes its way to big SUVs in the not so distant future. Come Auto Shanghai 2019, Volkswagen will be revealing a full-size electric SUV concept called the I.D. Roomzz.
Part of Volkswagen's growing I.D. Family of electric vehicles (EVs), the new concept will give a glimpse of the company's vision for a zero emissions SUV that is stylish, practical and efficient.
Looking at the teaser images, the concept features familiar styling cues borrowed from previous I.D. concepts like the Buzz Cargo, Vizzion, and the Buggy. Sharp-looking headlights adorn the front fascia of the concept and is accompanied by muscular wheel arches, along with overly-large alloy wheels.
Details regarding the concept's powertrain and interior have yet to be revealed. However, Volkswagen did say that the concept is capable of driving all by itself. Thanks to a level 4 autonomous system, the automaker claimed that I.D. Roomzz can be driven without the need of human intervention.
“The I.D. Roomzz shows us what we can expect from full-size electric SUVs in the future. The puristic look emphasizes the clear function and the user experience is intuitive and natural,” said Klaus Bischoff, Chief Designer at Volkswagen.
Volkswagen plans to release the production version of the concept some time in 2021 for the Chinese market. There are currently no plans if they will introduce it in other countries.
