The Indian car market continues to grow as Lexus officially begins operations in the aforementioned country. The brand arrived in India with a hybrid-focused lineup, stating that the Indian consumer wants something that is eco-friendly, powerful and luxurious at the same time.
During the official launch, Lexus debuted two hybrid models, along with a turbo-diesel SUV. First up is the RX450h, their midsize crossover that is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 along with an electric motor. It has a total system output of 308 PS and can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds.
The other hybrid on offer is the ES300h which is propelled by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine along with an electric motor. It has a total power output of 197 PS and has a top speed of 180 km/h. Both the RX and ES are married to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The only diesel on offer is the LX450d. It is their largest vehicle available and is powered by a 4.5-liter twin-turbo diesel V8. It produces 272 PS along with 650 Nm of torque. It is then mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive system.

The models will be available at guest experience centers located in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, and Bangalore. After sales, on the other hand, will be available in the following locations, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi.
By 2018, Lexus India plans to offer the flagship LS sedan.
