Isuzu PH could launch all-new mu-X before 2021 ends
Last month, we reported that the all-new Isuzu mu-X could arrive in 2022 instead of the latter part of 2021, mainly due to the global chip shortage. With it, customers that wish to reserve a unit may have to wait for a little longer.
Fast forward to August, and it looks like there has been a change of plans. According to a reliable source, the next-generation Isuzu mu-X could be launched in the country as early as September. Moreover, Isuzu dealers around the country are supposedly preparing to preview the next-generation SUV.
The exact specifications regarding the all-new mu-X are still a mystery. However, an insider who wished anonymity, told us that both the 1.9-liter RZ4E and 3.0-liter 4JJ3 turbo-diesel engines will be available on the SUV. For reference, these are the same engines that can be found in the new-generation D-Max. The former puts out 150 PS with 350 Nm of torque, while the latter generates 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque.
Our contact also told us that there could be a total of five variants for the 2022 mu-X. Starting price of the all-new SUV will reportedly begin at around PHP 1.9 million for the 4x2 A/T variant. No prices were mentioned for the M/T versions and the top-of-the-line 4x4 models of the new mu-X. A choice between a six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions might also be available for the 2022 mu-X.
Like the D-Max, the new mu-X will likely be offered with intelligent safety systems like lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, rear-cross traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, pedal misapplication mitigation, and even multi-collision braking. A new touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto could also be available on the new SUV.
Assuming that Isuzu launches the all-new Isuzu mu-X next month, we won't be surprised if some dealerships have already attracted customers that wish to make a reservation of the all-new SUV.
