BMW has revealed the 2014 4 Series Convertible following the arrival of the 2014 4 Series Coupe last June. The BMW 4 Series will be larger than the 3 Series Convertible in terms of width, track, and wheelbase.
The new convertible will be offered with 3 engine options: an inline-6 gasoline engine (435i Convertible), an inline -4 gasoline engine (428i Convertible), and an inline-4 diesel engine (420d Convertible). With the latest BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, the performance range of these engines covers 184 PS to 306 PS while being fuel efficient and complying with the EU6 standard. The engine power is delivered to the vehicle’s rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission or an optional 8-speed Sports automatic transmission. Both transmissions have the Auto Start Stop function as standard.
Aside from the engine power, the 4 Series Convertible features Electric Power Steering, 50:50 weight distribution, and a lightweight construction fine-tuned in the wind tunnel. Its lower and wider stance provides an extremely low center of gravity good for performance and handling.
As for the convertible’s exterior, BMW maintains its trademark double kidney grille along with twin circular headlights and large air intakes. The car also have Air Breathers and Air Curtains to reduce turbulence and aerodynamic drag at the front wheels. Its 3-piece retractable hard top creates a ‘boat deck’ look, and offers soundproofing and all-weather comfort to the passengers.
