Around two months ago, Kia Philippines officially launched its B-segment crossover fighter in the form of the all-new Seltos. Essentially Ayala's reply to the Hyundai Kona, the 2020 Seltos is also aimed at the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Honda HR-V, Suzuki Vitara, as well as the Nissan Juke.
But it looks like Kia is set to launch another funky crossover as the company is set to reveal a compact crossover concept at the Delhi Auto Expo 2020. To whet the appetite of the motoring public, Kia has released several teaser images of the soon-to-be-revealed crossover concept.
While its name has not yet been revealed, Kia described it of having a 'modern, dynamic, and bold design'. Moreover, the automaker also mentioned that it will have head-turning looks, as well as features that will embody Kia's 'Power to Surprise' slogan. Based on the photos Kia released, the upcoming concept does sport a futuristic design, and appears to be smaller than the Seltos.
However, we cannot help but speculate that the concept Kia will reveal is a redesigned Hyundai Venue. Back in April 2019, Hyundai launched the Venue as its smallest crossover offering. It has a more squared-off design, while still borrowing several design cues from the slightly bigger Kona. Even the interior of the vehicle carries the familiar squared-off aesthetic.
Sure some might say the Venue looks vastly different than the concept shown here. But just like the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Kona, the two brands have very different design philosophies (and technologies) that make them have their own identities.
With the Venue already out in the market since the middle of 2019, does this mean Kia is set to follow with their own small crossover? All we can do now is wait until Kia officially takes the covers off the concept come February 7, 2020.
