Yes, you read the title right; there's a chance that McLaren's sportscars and supercars will be officially sold in the Philippines.
A company is currently in the works to secure the rights to officially sell McLaren here. There is no timeline yet as to when, nor any indicator as to how far along they are in the negotiation process. As much as we would like to, we really can't divulge the name of the company behind this either. At least not yet.
McLaren Automotive is the roadcar counterpart of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One team, and is the successor to the former McLaren Cars, the company that built the Mercedes SLR McLaren as well as the legendary McLaren F1 car that was designed and engineered by Gordon Murray.
Currently, McLaren produces the MP4-12C and 12C Spider, a mid-engined sportscar and convertible with 625 PS from a twin turbo V8. Alongside it is the limited edition P1 hybrid that has an upgraded version of the twin turbo V8, producing 727 PS and another 126 PS from the KERS unit. P1 production is limited to 375 units.
Again we can't say who, but what we can tell you is that McLaren is not the only sportscar brand in the works for an official Philippine debut.
Yes, there is another. More on that later on.
