India could be the first market to get redesigned Ford EcoSport
The Ford EcoSport is slowly starting to show its age, but it seems the Blue Oval is not yet done with it just yet.
Recently spotted in India is what appears to be the updated 2022 Ford EcoSport. While it may still look like the current model, the vehicle seen here has some noticeable exterior changes.
For starters, the crossover now has a more stylish grille along with a redesigned front bumper. There are also new (inverted) L-shaped LED daytime running lights that give the crossover a sleeker appearance. Meanwhile, the rear appears to be carried over from the current model. But based on the tailgate-mounted spare wheel, the updated EcoSport could come with a new set of five-spoke alloy wheels.
There were no interior shots of the EcoSport. But since this could be a refreshed model, we won't be surprised if the cabin gets some minor changes here and there. These include larger touchscreen infotainment, an updated SYNC 3 system, new upholstery, and even a revised center stack.
Under the hood, the current engine choices could be carried over. These include the 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-three that makes 123 PS with 150 Nm of torque and the 1.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost with 125 PS and 170 Nm of torque. Transmission choices for the 2022 EcoSport will likely consist of a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The refreshed Ford EcoSport is expected to make its debut in India later this year. Though given the pandemic situation, the official launch could be moved to a later date. As for when it will arrive in the Philippine market, we might see the redesigned EcoSport make its Philippine debut sometime in 2022.
