2018 Isuzu D-Max, mu-X Blue Power models revealed in Cebu
After debuting the new Blue Power line up in Metro Manila during their 20th anniversary event, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) officially revealed their two latest models in the Queen City of the South, Cebu. Held at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu, IPC revealed both the 2018 Isuzu D-Max and the mu-X for a three-day launch and mall display event held from October 20-22, 2017.
Leading the program launch was IPC president Hajime Koso, who expressed optimism towards the models’ introduction in Cebu. Present with Koso-san was Isuzu Cebu Incorporated general manager Steve Gingto together with other officials from IPC and even delegates from Isuzu Thailand.
“Cebu has always been a special market for our products particularly for the light commercial segment. With our new Blue Power engines, we are confident that we will maintain, if not surpass our current market share in this region,” said Koso-san.
Both the 2018 Isuzu D-Max and mu-X are now powered by the 3.0-liter Blue Power 4JJ1-TCX Euro 4 engine that outputs 177 PS and 380 Nm of torque.
Apart from its new powerplant, both the 2018 D-Max and mu-X receive interior and exterior upgrades, respectively. Starting with the mu-X, the front fascia has been refreshed and is coupled with new Bi-LED projector headlights with LED daytime running lights. New LED taillights have also been fitted to match the updated front end. Redesigned 18-inch wheels complete the exterior makeover.
Inside, both the D-Max and the mu-X received updates to their cabin. The interior now uses new material and gives both vehicles a more sophisticated look. The two also receive a new 8-inch infotainment system. To give the mu-X a more premium feel, it now features ambient lighting, giving the cabin a blue glow.
As for upgraded safety features, the D-Max now comes with Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control. Like the D-Max, the mu-X now features Hill Descent Control, which is present even in the 4x2 variant.
