It was way back in late August when Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) revealed the all-new top-of-the-line trim for the D-Max. Called the LS-A, the workhorse gets a more prominent front fascia, a new set of alloy wheels, new gray-colored accents throughout the body, as well as new stepboards for easier ingress and egress.
In order to fully test the pickup truck, IPC recently held a two-day media test drive of the D-Max LS-A in the beautiful island of Camiguin. Serving as the country's second smallest island just after Batanes, Camiguin is home to 14 volcanoes, as well as some of the sweetest Lanzones you can find in the country.
Billed by Isuzu to be 'tough enough for anything', the D-Max LS-A showed that it can go to picturesque destinations no matter the terrain / road conditions. Day one of the media test drive saw the participants travel from the provincial capital of Mambajao to Taguines Lagoon, an old crater that is now teeming with life. From there, it was followed by a 40-minute drive to the island's interior to Tres Marias Hill, a trio of domes that dot the island's still active volcano, Mt. Hibok-Hibok.
After that, the group then went to the majestic Tuasan Falls, about a ten-minute drive from Tres Marias Hill. Refreshed, the group then went to the Lanzones Farm where they were able to have merienda, as well as see just how the fruit is harvested. The final stop then saw the group go to the Sunken Cemetery, where the remnants of an old town and cemetery sank into the sea after the eruption of Mt. Vulcan in 1871.
On to day two, the group spent the early hours of the morning on the white Sand Bar, a beautiful shoal that sits on the clear Bohol Sea.
IPC president Hajime Koso, stated that the D-Max LS-A is proof once again that their workhorse is reliable, dependable and is also fuel efficient.
“The Isuzu D-Max LS-A with Blue Power Diesel engine is our answer to the clamor of our customers for reliable, hardworking but fuel-efficient vehicles. This represents nearly a century of Isuzu’s experience and innovation in the design, engineering, and workmanship of diesel-powered utility vehicles. The D-Max LS-A is infused, as well, with features that address the demands of a market that value both hard work and play, business with leisure,” said Koso.
The D-Max LS-A is available in either 4x2 or 4x4 trim levels and is powered by 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TCX turbo-diesel that produces 177 PS and 380 Nm of torque. A choice of either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic is available for the LS-A. Standard amenities available in the D-Max LS-A include touchscreen infotainment with navigation, automatic climate control, power-adjustable driver's seat, leather upholstery, as well as keyless passive entry.
