It seems like Isuzu's 1.9-liter Blue Power diesel engine will soon be making its local debut in the Philippines. In a closed door interview held with select media members, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) president Hajime Koso said that the 1.9-liter variant of their Blue Power turbodiesel engine would be introduced in the country.

When asked regarding which vehicle it would debut in, Koso-san refused to reveal any details and insisted that we wait for its local debut. IPC sales division head Mr. Joseph Bautista added that Isuzu is currently preparing for its arrival in the country, but did not reveal as to when it will be released or offered to the public.

Outside the Philippines, the 1.9-liter Ddi Blue Power turbodiesel engine is offered on both the mu-X and the D-Max. The engine was first introduced a few years back first on the D-Max and later the mu-X. Power output for the engine is rated at 150 PS and 360 Nm of torque, which is mated to either a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.

Given that the IPC officials have remained quiet, we can only speculate as to whether only one or both models will receive the 1.9-liter variant of Isuzu's Blue Power engine. At the moment, the 2018 mu-X is offered with the 3.0-liter variant with an automatic transmission, while 2.5-liter versions are available as well. A new engine option could allow IPC to release more variants and compete with other SUVs in the same segment.
