Called the Special Vehicle Operations Technical Center (SVO), it will be located in Prologis Park, Ryton, Coventry, Warwickshire CV8 3EA, United Kingdom.
It is the brand’s global center of excellence set to open at the end of 2014 whose sole purpose is to complement existing research and development activities, create high luxury bespoke commissions as well as extreme performance vehicles.
$33,387,000 will be invested in order to provide specialist equipment for premium vehicle personalization and install a customer-commissioning suite to accommodate every imaginable custom-made request. It will have Formula 1-inspired flexible workshops and a specialist paint studio and will have a 150-man staff, 100 of which will be new positions.
“We are excited by the capability and potential that this new facility will give us. We will be creating truly iconic vehicles that reinforce the global reputation of both Jaguar and Land Rover brands as we expand our product portfolio and fulfil our ambitious plans,” said John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations.
Jaguar’s most powerful and fastest production vehicle, the F-Type Project 7 will be the first to roll out of the SVO center. Only 250 examples of this hand-built model will be sold worldwide.
