Kia Motor has finally given a name for their new flagship sedan, the K9, when it goes on sale outside of Korea. The name they decided on is the Kia Quoris.
"Our decision to give this striking new sedan an unconventional name means it will stand out even further from the established crowd, driving Kia sales in what is a new segment of the global automotive market for Kia," said Mr. Thomas Oh, Kia's EVP and COO for the International Business Division.
The 4 door, rear-wheel drive sedan is powered by a duo of V6 engines with a 300 PS 3.3 liter V6 or a 334 PS 3.8-liter V6 with Gasolione Direct Injection. The car was designed with a classier interpretation of the Tiger Grille.
The flagship sedan will come with technologies never seen before in a Kia, such as Advanced Vehicle Safety Management (AVSM) that integrates all the safety systems on board. The list includes Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assistance, Around View Navigation and other clever bits of tech.
According to Kia, the name Quoris is a derivative of the words 'core' and 'quality'.
We're not so sure about that translation, but nevertheless, Quoris is still better than saying to your neighbors: “Hey man, check out my new K9!”
