The Kia Seltos will soon be joined by an even smaller crossover as the Korean automaker recently revealed an all-new concept at this year's 2020 Auto Expo India. This is the Kia Sonet: a crossover concept that may be small in size but packs a whole lot of style.
While it is a concept for the time being, Kia says that a production model will be arriving in the Indian market later this year. For those wondering how small the crossover is, Kia has not released specifics such as dimensions just yet. However, based on the photos, it looks like it will be about 4 meters long, meaning it could go head to head with the Ford EcoSport.
Styling-wise, the Sonet looks quite different from its other high-riding counterpart. There are slim LED headlights up front which flank Kia's signature tiger-nose grill. It features an aggressive bumper with large air intakes, giving it a sporty appeal. From the side, you can see how short the wheelbase is. Noticeably there are black cladding all around to give it a rugged feel. At the rear, you'll find a small hatch with Kia's signature wide taillights.
If you notice, the Sonet is heavily tinted. This means that Kia isn't ready to show the crossover's interior just yet. However, they did mention it will have a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment and navigation system with UVO connect. A Bose premium audio system ensures that occupants can enjoy their music in traffic. Kia claims it will have a “ best-in-class interior space, and certain first-in-class features especially crafted for the Indian consumers”.
No details have been revealed about the powertrain just yet. However, Kia says it will shift via an “intelligent manual transmission" or iMT.
Expect more information about the Sonet once the production model arrives in the second half of 2020.
