NHTSA gives 5 stars to the 2014 Sorento while Euro NCAP gives 5 stars to the 2014 Carens
The 2014 Kia Sorento receives a 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This is the highest possible rating a vehicle can earn in the safety test conducted by NHTSA. The evaluation includes frontal and side impact crash tests, and rollover testing, which the Sorento had an outstanding performance. Furthermore, the vehicle was also included in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick, and received 5-stars from Euro NCAP.
In Europe, the new Kia Carens also receives 5-stars from the Euro NCAP. The compact MPV achieved high scores for Adult Occupant Protection (94%), Child Occupant Protection (76%), Safety Assist equipment (81%), and Pedestrian Protection (64%). Among the vehicles subjected to the 2013 Euro NCAP tests, the Carens is one of only two MPVs to receive a 5-star rating from the organization.
Other Kia models that enjoy a 5-start rating from the Euro NCAP crash test results includes that cee’d, Rio, Venga, Soul, and Sportage. Among these vehicles, Kia Philippines only sell the Soul, Sportage, Carens, Sorento, and Rio in the local market.
