Mercedes-Maybach lops the top off the range-topping S-Class Coupe
Mercedes-Maybach, the ultra-luxury division of Mercedes-Benz, has just unveiled an exclusive, limited-run model. Dubbed the S650 Cabriolet, it rides on the S-Class Cabriolet wheelbase but comes with more luxuries and exclusive to just 300 units worldwide with 75 earmarked for the U.S.
The Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet comes with exterior configurations exclusive to the bespoke model. Starting off with the paint, the S650 Cabriolet comes in three special colors, namely Zircon Red, Cote d'Azur Blue and Designo Diamond White. Other exclusive Mercedes-Maybach features include a new front bumper with upgraded lower section and numerous chrome highlights. The wheels are also unique to the Maybach as it rides on 20-inch Maybach forged wheels with a bichromatic finish.
Open the doors of this exclusive cabriolet and you are greeted by the Maybach logo projected onto the floor. Inside, it is fully trimmed in leather with a waterfall-like seat upholstery, achieved with the aid of progressive perforations. Adding an element of individualism, each interior commissioned individually for each vehicle based on the selected color and grain. In addition to trim on the instrument panel and door paneling, the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet exclusively boasts a trim element on top of the convertible top compartment with inlaid Maybach logo.
Two of the three Maybach Cabriolet configurations feature "flowing lines" trim. In combination with the other trim elements, Mercedes-Maybach says elements of yachts have been applied to this exclusive top-down. The interior is said inspired by the Mercedes-Benz Style "Arrow 460-Granturismo" yacht. Complementing the car's upgraded interior is a luggage set dubbed 'The Affinity'. This luggage set is made from leather from the car's upholstery and is tailored to match the S650 Cabriolet's interior theme. A chrome-plated “1 of 300” badge adorns the center console as a reminder of the car's exclusivity.
Powering the S650 Cabriolet is Mercedes-Benz's V12 mill. The 6.0 liter Biturbo engine produces 621 PS and 1000 Nm of torque. It shifts via a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission and sends its power to the rear wheels. An upgraded AIRMATIC suspension system puts further emphasis on comfort.
