All-new Vanquish S receives uprated engine, improved handling
Several months ago, our spies were able to take photos of what looked to be a more powerful Vanquish being tested around the Nurbugring. Today, the Gaydon-based luxury marque officially confirmed their latest super GT, the 2017 Aston Martin Vanquish S.
Featuring a slightly more aggressive exterior, along with an uprated powertrain and chassis, the all-new Vanquish S is set to deliver a more 'sensational driving experience' and 'increased athleticism'.
Beginning with the V12 motor, the 6.0-liter naturally aspirated engine now cranks out 600 PS, an increase from 573 PS. This was made possible after the automaker installed a free-breathing intake system that comes with larger volume inlet manifolds. With it, they were able to improve engine response and allow a greater volume of air to flow into the engine at high revs.
Meanwhile, the 8-speed Touchtronic III transmission has been recalibrated to deliver quicker gear changes and improved refinement in low speeds.
Better handling, on the other hand, came in the form of a tweaked suspension system. According to Aston Martin, the dampers, spring rates and anti-roll bushings were re-tuned to give the Vanquish S better cornering ability without sacrificing the pliant ride quality.
As for its exterior, it gets a new aerodynamic package made from exposed carbon fiber. The 2017 Vanquish S gets a new front splitter while the rear has a new diffuser to lessen drag. Delivering a better exhaust note are the quad exhausts which also gives the new Super GT a more menacing look.
Additional exterior décor available for the new Vanquish S include: carbon fiber hood louvres, five-spoke diamond turned wheels and a plethora of strking paint finishes.
Inside, a new quilited leather trim called 'Filograph' can be specified for the 2017 Vanquish S. Other than that, it also gets the Satin Chopped carbon fiber dash panel which spruces up cabin ambiance. Completing it all are new leather upholstery options and material finishes.
“In its second generation, the Vanquish maintained that momentum with huge engineering advances such as its all-carbon fibre bodywork and compelling, contemporary styling. Now, the Vanquish S takes things a step further, confidently asserting itself within the Aston Martin range and distinguishing itself from the new DB11. A spectacular machine in every sense, the Vanquish S is a magnificent addition to our range,” said Dr. Andy Palmer, president and CEO of Aston Martin.
The 2017 Aston Martin Vanquish S will arrive in US dealerships by December 2016 and will be available in either Coupe or Volante body styles.
