Ferrari has finally taken the wraps off the next super-model in the stable and since it is derived from the LaFerrari, it simply blows away all other models in Ferrari's XX series.
Manufactured purely for track-use, the FXX K is a hybrid super-Ferrari that uses a 6262cc V-12 engine with an electric motor to produce 1,050 PS with over 900 Nm of torque and will only be made available to a select number of customers who will only be able to use it on tracks in private or manufacturer-sponsored events.
This arrangement lets owners realize the full potential and capabilities of the FXX K without needing road certification for the car.
The intervention level of the E-Diff electronic differential, F1-Trac traction control, Racing SSC (Side Slip Angle Control) - now specially calibrated to suit the car’s slick tires - and the high-performance ABS can be controlled using the five-position Manettino on the steering wheel.
A limited number of the FXX K, K stands for KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), will be produced to maintain a certain amount of exclusivity.
The FXX K’s engineering is crafted to perform on the track. Drive modes available are Qualify for short distance high performance, Long for full track performance, Fast Charge for quick battery recharge and Manual Boost which uses the hybrid system pump everything up.
It has also has a 50% increase in downforce when taking corners to increase attack speed. And to achieve the desired audial package, engineers have even removed the silencers from the exhaust system of the FXX K.
'Unfettered by homologation and racing regulations, the FXX K will never be used in competition. It was, in fact, developed to be completely uncompromising, incorporating technological innovations that will guarantee an unprecedented driving experience to the exclusive group of Client-Test Drivers with whom the Prancing Horse will roll out a test programme over the coming two years,' said Ferrari in a statement.
The Ferrari FXX K will debut in Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit next week. Official production figures and price have yet to be revealed.
