Russian automaker AvtoVAZ surprised everybody at the Moscow Auto Show with the unveil of the Lada X-Ray concept crossover. Lada took a big step away from its usual design cues with this concept crossover and will be doing the same thing for their future vehicle lineup.

The new-era design of the Lada X-Ray was penned by former Mercedes-Benz and Volvo designer, and current AvtoVAZ design chief Steve Mattin. He is the one responsible for the design of the 1997 A-Class and the current generation Volvo XC60 and explains that the X-Ray got its name fromm the shape created by headligamps, front grille, and its foglamps.

Although AvtoVAZ has admitted that the X-Ray will remain a concept vehicle, they said that design cues from the X-Ray will definitely seen on their production models by 2015.
