Lamborghini opens new facility for special models

For limited production runs

Lamborghini has inaugurated a new facility dedicated to the development and production of prototypes and limited edition, specialty models.

The new building, located in the Emilia region of Italy -an area hit hard by the recent earthquake- was designed specifically for small scale, specialty production. Also, the facility will be used as a mini laboratory for Lamborghini's production, as on the 2nd floor is a duplicate of the assembly steps the Italian company performs for each car. The mini production line will be used to study, fine tune and improve the production process. It will be used to even further improve the quality of Lamborghini's models.

Lamborghini has announced that the first model to be built at the new facility will be the Sesto Elemento; the all carbon fiber concept car they revealed at the Paris Motor Show a few years back.

The building also gains a Class A Industrial energy rating; the first industrial building in Italy to be built to such stringent energy standards. It is also equipped with a photovoltaic system.

“Our new building confirms Lamborghini's commitment not only to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency, but also to advanced technology and innovation with an eye on the future" said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based company.
