As Lamborghini prepares for the production of the upcoming Urus SUV, the guys over at Sant'Agata, Bolognese has announced the construction of a new paint plant. The paint plan will be used to paint the body of the Urus SUV, which is scheduled to arrive on the market next year. The new building will cover an additional 10,000 sqm, expanding Lamborghini's plant area to 160,000 sqm of covered area.
Apart from expanding the Lamborghini factory, the new paint plant will also bring in approximately 200 new workers by the time the plant reaches full capacity. The 200 new employees will are on top of the 500 jobs promised to be created by Lamborghini due to the Urus. Lamborghini says that the new paint facility will be fully operational at maximum capacity by the end of 2018.
"We are very pleased with this result, which represents another step on our path of strategic expansion. Thanks to the support and faith of our shareholder AUDI AG, a decision was taken that most effectively safeguards our knowhow, job growth in the territory, and brand identity," says Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lamborghini.
Domenicali also added that the production of the Urus will begin in 2018 and is expected to produce 1,000 units per year. Given that Lamborghini is expecting it to hit showroom floors by 2018, it is possible that Lamborghini will be fully revealing the Urus at the end of the year.
