It may have been a long wait, but the ninth film in the Fast & Furious franchise will finally be arriving later this year after being delayed. Like the past five movies, there are more physics-defying stunts, fast cars, and “family”. More characters from the previous series will be making their return. Exciting right? To give us a preview, Universal Pictures has released the newest trailer of Fast & Furious 9.

One of the highlights of F9 is the return of Han Lue, played by Sung Kang. For reference, the character was presumed dead following the events of the 2006 movie The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. Yes, he also appeared in Fast 4 to 6. However, those movies served as a prequel to Tokyo Drift for Han to continue appearing in the films.

Together with Han, Tokyo Drift star Sean Boswell, played by Lucas Black, is included together with Twinkie, played by Bow Wow, and Earl by Jason Tobin. It’s not certain why Twinkie, Sean, and Jason are back. But, it's likely connected to the return of Han.

Another returning character is Dominic Toretto’s sister Mia, played by Jordana Brewster. As you may recall, she exited the franchise in Furious 7 when her character retired alongside Brian O’ Conner.

Latest Fast & Furious 9 trailer has flying cars, even more explosions image

This time around, the Fast family will be going up against John Cena, playing Jakob Toretto. He teams up with hacker extraordinaire Cipher, played by Charlize Theron, from Fate of the Furious. Given how crazy things got in the previous installment, expect it to be even crazier this time and even more action-packed. They’re even going to space with a flying car.

We’ll let you watch the new trailer above, and see for yourself what to expect in the movie. Fast & Furious 9 will be in theaters on June 25, 2021. But given the current situation here, it’s unlikely cinemas will be open by then. Hopefully, it will be available via streaming services too.
