LEAKED: 2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport patent images
All new Montero Sport likely out by late 2015
Mitsubishi's popular SUV, the Montero Sport, has been around since 2008. After 8 years in production, an all-new model is in the cards following the launch of the all new Strada. These leaked patent images display a rendered version of the 2016 Montero Sport's final design.

While the current Montero Sport has a similar looking front end with the previous generation Strada, this all new model gets a more distinct front fascia with slimmer wraparound headlights and features the company's new grill called Dynamic Shield. From the side, the familiar Montero Sport outline remains but with a pinched third window and a character line that starts at the opposite ends of the car and disappears around the middle. At the back, the tail lights have been moved upwards into the midsection of the D-pillar and continues to the quarter panel of the SUV.

At the moment, Mitsubishi is tight-lipped regarding the details of the new Montero Sport. Since the upcoming Montero Sport is based on the new Strada, is it highly possible the new SUV will come with Mitsubishi's 2.5 liter four cylinder diesel with Variable Geometry Turbo. That engine produces 178 PS and 400 Nm of torque.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport is supposedly scheduled to be revealed by the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
