Images of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner have once again surfaced on the web, less than week to its official global debut in Bangkok, Thailand on July 16. This confirms that the leaked image we published on July 2 was indeed the next-generation Fortuner.
Based on the photos, the exterior gets a more sophisticated styling and it seems to have drawn some inspiration from the US-market Highlander SUV.
Furthermore, alleged variants and specs of the 2016 Fortuner were leaked out; detailing engine options which feature the new 2.4-liter commonrail turbodiesel, 2.8-liter commonrail turbodiesel. The 2.7-liter VVT-i engine will be retained as the gas-fed option. New transmissions will be a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Based on the leaked image, the interior appears to have a more premium look compared to its predecessor.
Convenience and safety features leaked out were: Smart key with engine start/stop button, knee airbags, vehicle stability control, hill start assist, and emergency lighting system. Most of these features will likely be found only in the top-spec variants.
We'll get all the facts and figures as it officially debuts next week.
