An anonymous source has sent brochure photos of the 2016 Toyota Innova to Indonesian publication autonetmagz.net. This may be a hint that the launch of the all-new model may be in a few weeks time.
With the new Hilux launched and the 2016 Fortuner unveiled, the all-new Innova shares its styling with its larger IMV platform mates. A large two-bar grill dominates the front end with wide wraparound headlights complementing the bold grill. Unlike the current generation Innova, the upcoming all-new model features more character lines and the third window now features a reverse kink. The leaked images however, do not show photos of its rear.
Inside, the difference between the now 12 year old model and this are night and day. In the brochure, the dashboard shot shows a more car-like layout, with swooping curves dominating the cockpit view. It also shows the different variants of the 2016 Innova, starting from the G, the V and the new range-topping model, the Q. Standard in the G to Q models are the driving mode selector with ECO and POWER modes, a glove box with a cooler, manual mode for automatic models, 3 airbags, and ISOFIX seats.
The Innova V gets an 8-inch monitor with HDMI, DLNA, bluetooth connectivity, and voice command to name a few. The V model also adds ambient lighting and airconditioning for the second row occupants.
For the top-spec Innova Q, it gets LED headlights with projector lenses, as well as an emergency brake signal for the tail lights. Exclusive for the Q version is a smart key system. Other extras in the Q model include faux wood trim, one-touch up and down power windows for all sides, and seven airbags. It also gets more safety kit such as vehicle stability control and hill assist control.
Under the hood is the new 2.4 liter GD turbodiesel engine, now seeing service in the Hilux. Output is at 149 PS at 3,400 rpm and 359 Nm of torque for the automatic and 342 Nm for the manual version. The gas models retain the 2.0 liter VVT-i engine which produces 139 PS and 183 Nm of torque. The Innova gets the same 6-speed automatic and 5-speed intelligent manual transmission found with its IMV cousins.
The rumor mill suggests that the 2016 Innova will makes its global debut sometime in November. A local debut may be set for January 2016.
