Alleged 2018 Peugeot 308 GTI facelift gets subtle exterior revisions
Several weeks ago, Peugeot officially revealed the 2018 308 facelift. Both the hatchback and wagon versions of the 308 get minor design revisions, along with a new range of turbocharged engines and transmission options.
Now it seems the automaker is also preparing to launch the updated 308 GTI soon. If the image is to be believed, the 308 GTI update will also receive the same subtle makeover from the standard models. Apparently posted by the company's Spanish division, the image was immediately taken down but not before Motor1 was able to grab the picture.
The pattern of the upper and lower front grills have been changed, while bigger air vents also make their way in the 308 GTI. A new sculpted hood also appears to have been installed on the alleged hot hatch. Also seen at the front is a red chin spoiler which has become synonymous with previous GTI models from Peugeot.
Another telltate that this could be the refreshed 308 GTI is the two-tone paintjob that is comprised of blue and black. Images of the 308 GTI's rear were not available but it is highly likely that the taillights have been given a once over, along with the rear bumper.
The 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine may also get a slight power bump. Currently, the engine produces 272 PS at 6000 rpm and 330 Nm of torque at 1900 rpm. Given Peugeot's pedigree in rallying and making hot hatches, we won't be surprised that the 308 GTI facelift might produce nearly 300 PS and maybe 350 Nm of torque in the upcoming update.
There is also a rumor going around that an even more powerful 308 could be released in the form of the 308 R.
