BMW M5 Competition confirmed, gains more power and torque
The G90 BMW M5 may be new but that didn't stop the folks from the M Division to give it a healthy power boost. Leaked ahead of its debut is the M5 Competition and, as they say, it's been cranked all the way up to 11 with more horsepower, torque and a host of suspension upgrades. With that, the M5 Competition sets its crosshairs straight at the Mercedes-AMG E63 S.
In the Competition pack, the M5 doles out an extra 25 PS and 50 Nm more from the 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8. The result is 625 PS and a staggering 800 Nm of torque which is then transferred to all four wheels via an M-tuned xDrive all-wheel drive system. That's 22 PS more than its rival from Affalterbach but it's still down on torque compared to the AMG by 50 Nm.
With the added grunt, BMW claims the car can do 0 to 100 in 3.3 seconds, making it one of the fastest sedans in the market today. Top speed has yet to be declared but it is expected to exceed 300 km/h as the standard M5 can already do 305 km/h. BMW also gave it a sports exhaust (albeit not a full titanium part) which is said to bring out more sound from the twin-turbo V8.
To further distinguish the M5 Competition from the standard M5, it gets a new set of wheels, gloss black kidney grills, more gloss black trimmings on the body and a lower ride height. More details will be revealed once the car is out. As for the interior, there are no photos of it just yet.
