With just a few days left before the opening of the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, images of what appears to be the all-new Mazda CX-9 have been leaked ahead of its official premiere.

If the pictures are to be believed, the 2016 CX-9 appears to draw styling cues from the Koeru concept that was revealed during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Like what Mazda said with their design sketch, the all-new CX-9 now features the distinct Kodo – Soul of Motion design theme.

The front end now features Mazda's signature grill design that is accented by splashes of chrome, along with sharper-looking headlights. The side profile relatively carries over but it has more prominent wheel arches and a slightly kinked third-row window.

Over to the rear, it gets sleeker-looking taillights that resemble the ones used on the Mazda3 Hatchback. Also present are the thin chrome trim, reshaped tailgate, dual exhausts, roof-mounted spoiler and a shark-fin antenna.

Interior images on the other hand show a two-tone theme that is a contrast between copper and gray finishes. The purported 2016 CX-9 also gets Mazda's new Human-Machine Interface along with the infotainment display present on the center dashboard, 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, push-button start and a new automatic climate control system.

Like the previous generation, the new midsize crossover retains the 2+3+2 seating layout.

Powertrain specifics were not detailed but it is rumored that the 2016 CX-9 will be powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged SkyActiv engine.
