A leaked photo of the updated Mazda BT-50 has made its way online. The photo was snapped in Thailand and the red BT-50 seen here is in regular cab guise.

As seen in the photo, the updated BT-50 sheds the previous "smiling" grill seen in the previous styling direction. Taking its place is Mazda's new design language known as Kodo design. The Kodo design is most prominent in its new front grill. The black strip in the middle of the grill has been moved up and made thicker and with its grill surrounds now in chrome rather than black plastic. It is complemented by a thin strip of trim just below the thicker grill bar. It also appears that the headlights have been tweaked, replacing the multi-reflector pattern seen in the current BT-50.

There is currently no word whether or not the interior has been revised as well. Reports suggest the updated pickup might get Mazda's latest MZD Connect infotainment system.

With the updated Ranger unveiled in the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show, it's possible that the updated BT-50 will follow shortly after the updated Rangers come out. The BT-50 is expected inherit its Ford counterpart's engine lineup. This incluforin the updated Ranger, one with 160 PS and the other with 131 PS dubbed the "High Efficiency" version. It is currently unknown if the Mazda will recieve the High Efficiency engine as well.
