Nissan Leaf Nismo concept set to debut in Tokyo

All-new Nissan Leaf to get hotter Nismo treatment

With just a few weeks left before the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, Japanese automakers are putting out all the stops and have been busy releasing teasers and online previews for the past few days. Among them is Nissan and they have just revealed a sportier Leaf concept, courtesy of the Nismo.

The Leaf Nismo Concept gets a more striking exterior and comes with the tuning division's signature white, red and black motif. The EV is equipped with more aggressive looking front and rear bumpers along with new side skirts. In addition, the bodykit is painted in a distinct red hue. New five-spoke alloy wheels, lower ride height and blacked-out roof and side mirror caps complete the exterior revisions for the Leaf Nismo Concept.

As for its powertrain and performance, the Leaf Nismo has a 'custom tuned computer' which is said to give the EV hatch more potent performance. Nismo also announced last April that they build and sell more cars in the future. This will be made possible via Nismo Cars Business Department, a new business unit that will build and sell Nismo-badged automobiles in the global market.

They also plan to broaden the model range available under Nismo and enter new segments. Currently, the tuning division only sells Nismo versions of the GT-R, 370Z, Sentra, Note and Patrol.

The 2017 Tokyo Motor Show will be open to the public from October 27 until November 5.
