From James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 complete with an ejector seat to the complex Bugatti Chiron with functioning steering and a rear wing, Lego has been releasing a number of build-it-yourself scale vehicle models over the past few years. Now, it seems the brick maker is planning to add some American muscle into the mix by introducing the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the classic 1970 Dodge Charger R/T as part of their latest Lego Speed Champions kit.
“With the new Speed Champions set featuring the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, our youngest fans can now build and jump into the ‘driver’s’ seat of two of their ultimate fantasy muscle cars,” said said Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands, Dodge//SRT, Chrysler and FIAT – FCA.
Buying the new Speed Champions kit includes three Lego minifigures – a Challenger driver, Charger driver and a race marshal. The Challenger SRT Demon is finished in yellow and comes with two different wheel designs. It also sports dual exhausts, a rear spoiler and even decorative stickers. Meanwhile, the classic 1970 Charger R/T has a removable supercharger as well as an alternate engine cover. Completing the set is the Lego drag-strip Christmas tree start light, which can be flipped up to start.
Given that both the Challenger Demon and the Charger R/T are part of the Lego Speed Champions set, it will not be as hard to build compared to the Lego Technic models (i.e. Bugatti Chiron, 911 GT3 RS). It will also be a lot cheaper as the kit only costs $29.99 (Php 1,571) in the US compared to the Lego Technic kits. No word yet as to when the new Speed Champions set will arrive in Lego stores locally.
