The Lexus LC 500 is perhaps one of the more exciting cars we've tested here at Autoindustriya.com. From its sleek, sweeping curves to its bellowing 5.0-liter V8 engine, there's a lot to like or even love, about this Japanese grand tourer. At Php 9,908,000, it's a lavish way to get from point A to B.

If you're lucky to be in the market for one of these, why not take it a step further and get a drop-top?

Lexus Philippines will be giving you that option soon with the LC 500 Convertible; yes, they've just confirmed that they are launching this model very soon.

This topless luxury cruiser made its debut back in November 2019 during the Los Angeles Auto Show. Lexus didn't simply chop the roof off the coupe and add a ragtop to it. After all, this is a brand that's known for engineering. The entire under-chassis was stiffened with cross braces, and the suspension re-tuned to handle the extra weight the convertible ended up gaining. The roof setting and stowage mechanism see the trunk lid and other panels swing in and out of place, and it's all done in less than 20 seconds.

As for the interior, it's been carried over the coupe. That means you get acres of leather and aluminum trimmings from front to rear. Its dash design is the same as its hardtop counterpart, as well as the hardware and software used for the infotainment system. The only difference here is the deletion of the (small) back seats, which makes way for the fabric top's storage area.

That 5.0-liter V8 is unchanged from the fixed-roof version, so you get 471 PS and 540 Nm of torque. It then courses that power through a 10-speed automatic transmission. That's good enough to give it a 0 to 100 km/h sprint of a little over five seconds.

Now you're probably wondering how much the LC 500 Convertible will set you back. According to Lexus Manila president Raymond Rodriguez, they're pegging it at the Php 10.5 to Php 11 million range. Of course, that price will all depend on how they will equip this grand touring convertible.

If you're interested and have the means to buy it, you'll have to wait a little bit longer as the LC 500 Convertible should be in their local flagship showroom in Manila by July.
