Lexus has a new concept car coming later this year, and it's an important one. It's not a new addition to the lineup or the next-generation NX, RX, or even LX. Instead, it's a concept vehicle that previews the future design language of the brand. At the moment, there's not a lot of details to go on. The vehicle does not even have a name yet. But based on the lone teaser photo, the future Lexus models will look very different from the brand's lineup today.
From the lone photo, we seem to be looking at the vehicle's rear end. We've also brightened the image below to see more details of the vehicle. The most noticeable change would be the lack of the Lexus “L” badge. Instead, there's an illuminated “LEXUS” badge spread across what appears to be a horizontal LED lightbar taillight. There's also a muscular bumper that makes the concept look wider. What we're interested in is the low horizontal bar and what appears to be a roof fin.
The concept is scheduled to debut in “Spring 2021”. At the moment, Lexus has yet to announce whether the vehicle in question is a sedan or a crossover. There's no mention if it will be an EV or if it will be powered by a traditional internal-combustion engine. Whatever the case, the concept will pave the way for a new generation of design for Lexus models to come.
“This year, Lexus will take a new step forward in aiming to make the diversified lifestyles of our customers more rewarding. This Spring, we will unveil our new brand vision, along with a new concept, which illustrates our intentions for the future and marking the beginning of the next generation of Lexus. Furthermore, we will launch the first model under our new vision within this year, and we will continue to introduce new models next year and beyond,” said Lexus President and Chief Branding Officer Koji Sato.
There are still a lot of questions about the Lexus concept at this point. Thankfully, we won't have to wait too long before the concept debuts.
